According to the latest statistics from the German Mechanical Engineering Association, Germany's robotics and automation industry achieved a record high of €12.2 billion in 2015, a 7% increase over 2014. Experts predict that this turnover will reach a new high of €12.5 billion in 2016. With the implementation of Germany's "Industry 4.0" strategy, the robotics, automation, and smart manufacturing industries will provide more business opportunities for foreign companies.
According to statistics, in 2015, 45% of the robotics and automation industry's turnover was generated in Germany, while the rest of Europe accounted for 24%. China became the industry's largest foreign market, accounting for 11% of turnover, followed by North America at 9%. "Robotics and automation, along with microelectronics, are key components of Industry 4.0. It is expected that over the next five years, more than 80% of German companies will digitize their value chains. This will increase efficiency by 18% and reduce costs by more than 13%," said Oliver Seeler, an expert at the German Federal Office of Foreign Trade and Invest.
